a great wash is a precious thing to waste

Hudson, Grey Ant, Joe’s…whatever the brand, a pair of jeans is only as good as its wash. As such, words cannot convey my misery when I happen upon my [still perfect-fitting] Salt Works 14th Streets, hidden at the bottom of my jeans drawer. Though once a total, utter, blackout black, they’re now faded beyond what I consider wearable.

“However did they get that way?” you might ask, my caring fashion friend.

And I would be forced to answer, through gritted teeth: “I washed them. Twice.”

Now I usually take good—make that great—care of my clothes. But in this case, I had no idea how to. Now I know better, due to a) experience and b) A.P.C.’s denim washing recipes. Have no fear; it’s not all extremist denim care. Recommendations range from dry cleaning to…I’ll let you find out.
