I’m not sure anyone likes stripes as much as I do. I mean, talk about playful sophistication! Especially when they’re peeking out from beneath a sweater or are sequined on a mini dress… At any rate, I adore stripes, especially those brought to me by Sonia Rykiel, Splendid, and now, Graham & Spencer:

I first saw this Graham & Spencer top in Lucky. Wow, I thought– it’s perfect! Slightly long, fitting (so you can layer it), a bit translucent, medium-width horizontal stripes. I was sold, until I noticed that perfection costs $130 (sigh).
But guess what? It doesn’t have to! Imagine my delight when I happened upon the second-most perfect striped top yesterday…at Forever 21. Check it out:
Also long, lean, slightly see-through, with a very pleasing stripe-width…and would you believe me if I told you that it cost a tenth of the Graham & Spencer top?
I like to think of them as stripes for now and stripes for later.
